Concrete Patios

Extend your outdoor living space with a solid concrete patio. We build patios that handle the Columbia heat and look sharp for years.

One Crew. Site Prep to Finished Pour.

Most concrete contractors show up after the land work is done. We do both. Carolina Elite Construction clears the lot, preps the site, grades the surface, and pours the concrete all with the same crew you hired on day one.

What that means for you:

  • No scheduling gaps between site prep and concrete pour
  • One point of contact for the entire job
  • No blame-shifting between separate contractors
  • Faster project completion from cleared land to finished slab

If you've got a lot that needs clearing before concrete goes down, or a yard that needs grading before a patio can be poured, call Carolina Elite Construction. We handle both ends of the job.

Materials, Mix Design, and Finishing Standards

Good concrete work starts before the first truck arrives. The mix design, the reinforcement, and the cure time—each step matters, especially in Columbia, SC, summers, where heat and humidity affect how concrete sets. Here's how we approach every job.

Concrete Mix and Reinforcement

We use a standard 3,000–4,000 PSI concrete mix for residential flatwork, upgraded where load or span requirements call for it. All slabs include steel rebar or fiber mesh reinforcement depending on application; driveways and patios always get rebar grids for long-term structural integrity.

Forming and Subbase Preparation

We set forms to grade, compact the subbase, and ensure proper slope for drainage before any concrete is poured. Skipping this step is the number one reason concrete cracks. We don't skip it.

Curing in Columbia SC Heat

Columbia summers hit hard. High temperatures and direct sun cause concrete to cure too fast, which creates surface cracking. We apply curing compound or wet-cure with burlap and plastic sheeting where conditions require it, giving every slab the time it needs to reach full strength.

Finishing Options

Standard broom finish is the default for driveways and sidewalks; it's slip-resistant and holds up year-round. Patios can be finished smooth, brushed, or with an exposed aggregate look. We'll talk through options before the pour.
